Snapper Seafood and Mexican Cuisine | Our Story

Born in Her Mother's Kitchen, Built with Love

In the lush south of Mexico, where the earth is rich and the culture runs deep, a young woman grew up in the warm kitchens of her mother and grandmother. Her family's food wasn't just nourishment. It was tradition, soul, and celebration. From a young age, she traveled across Mexico with her parents and siblings, discovering new coasts, new flavors, and the breathtaking beauty of her country. But of all the journeys she took, the most magical happened in her mother's kitchen. Her mother and grandmother worked with rich, soulful ingredients, not just to cook, but to tell stories, heal hearts, and honor their roots. Surrounded by the aroma of fresh herbs, simmering seafood, and spices carried by generations, that's where she found her true passion. Years later, she met a kind and passionate gentleman who shared her love for flavor, family, and heritage. Together, they united their lives and their dreams, blending their experiences and family traditions into one shared vision: to bring authentic coastal Mexican flavors to the world and honor their ancestors. From that dream, Snapper was born, a restaurant inspired by childhood travels, a family's culinary legacy, and the powerful women who taught her that food is a bridge between generations. Our logo is an alebrije, a vibrant, mythical creature born from Mexican folklore and deeply tied to Día de los Muertos. The Snapper alebrije is made of spirit animals from both land and sea: the fierce snapper fish, the watchful owl, the strong jaguar, and the protective water serpent. Alebrijes are guardians of spirit, family, and memory. Ours represents the soul of Snapper: honoring the ancestors, protecting culinary traditions, and guiding each guest through a rich and flavorful journey rooted in love. Snapper is more than a restaurant. It is a living tribute to the owners' mothers and grandmother, whose kitchens were filled with life, tradition, and soul. It's a celebration of childhood memories, of trips through Mexico's coasts, and of the deep love between two people united by food. Welcome to Snapper, where every dish tells a story, every flavor carries heritage, and every bite brings you home.

Payson, Utah is high desert and landlocked — not where you'd expect pier-fresh ceviche or a whole grilled fish that stops the room. That's exactly why Snapper opened here.

The menu draws from Mexico's coastal kitchens — family recipes built on deep spice, bright acidity, and fresh seafood. Nothing here is fusion or shortcut.

The birria is a local legend — rich, impossibly tender, the dish guests insist their friends order first. The whole grilled fish and aguachiles raise the bar every time.

Exposed brick, string lights, a glowing neon sign, and a flower-lined patio — reviewers keep saying the same thing: it feels like you're near the ocean.
